M2: The Institute for Experiential Jewish Education is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Director of Finance and Administration. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the position provides overall leadership and accountability for, and maintenance of financial, legal, and administrative systems of our Israeli חל”צ and our US 501(c)3.
Financial Oversight & Management (50%)
Provide financial oversight and monitoring, including development and implementation of fiscal management practices and controls.
Manage and oversee monthly accounting processes and financial consolidation between the US and Israeli entities, including bookkeeping, payroll management, invoicing, and financial tracking of restricted grants.
Develop and manage the organization’s budget and evaluate the financial performance of the organization against goals and forecasts.
Analyze and present monthly and quarterly financial reports, as well as grant budget reports, including profit and loss, forecast vs. budget, and cash flow.
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process in Israel and the US.
Compliance & Legal (25%)
Monitor and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure internal controls and compliance with Israeli Tax Authority, IRS, and GAAP standards.
Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation, ensuring legislative regulations and compliance with federal and state requirements are followed.
Manage and oversee finance and compliance aspects of HR functions, including offer letters; benefits administration; policies and procedures; staff reimbursements.
Oversee risk management and legal activities, including insurance and contracts.
Develop and oversee all internal systems including IT, technology platforms, cross-organization communication systems, and content management systems.
Manage and track organizational needs for computer hardware and software, procuring new equipment as needed.
Collaborate with COO to ensure implementation and management of new systems.
CPA – preferred
US citizens or holders of an American Social Security number – preferred
At least eight years of experience in a finance position with at least three years in a leadership role, preferably in a US based nonprofit organization,
A strong understanding of GAAP and mastery of nonprofit accounting protocols and regulations for a 501(c)3 in the US and for a חל”צ in Israel.
Hands-on experience with accounting and financial software, specifically QuickBooks
Proven track record of leading effective annual budgeting processes and creating monitoring systems to ensure the financial health of the organization.
Excellent command of Excel.
Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management, and forecasting methods.
Exceptional interpersonal/collaborative skills. Must be a team player and work effectively with others to achieve outcomes and solve problems.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Attention to detail and ability to complete work with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency, against effective deadlines.
Resourcefulness in setting priorities, executing multiple tasks, and achieving objectives.
Full-time position with at least three days working from our Jerusalem office
