M²: The Institute for Experiential Jewish Education’s mission is to promote a proud and inspired community of Jewish educators who possess the personal and professional capacities to help learners find meaning and relevance in Jewish life. We run a broad range of training programs for educators and provide educational consulting services to organizations. Our work is generously funded by the US-based Jewish philanthropic community, with additional support from Israel and Europe.

POSITION OVERVIEW

M² is seeking a Development Associate to prepare compelling grant proposals, reports, and other funder-facing materials. This individual will play a critical role in securing funding and funders by crafting well-written and impact-driven materials tailored to funder needs and interests.

The Development Associate will also track grant processes via our project management software (Monday.com) and donor relationships in our customized Salesforce database.

Additionally, the Development Associate will contribute to the overall financial resource development efforts of M² in order to achieve goals as defined in the strategic plan.

This position is in-person, based in our Jerusalem office and reports to the Senior Director of Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Writing and Donor-facing Communication (75%)

  • Compose well-written grant proposals and reports, ensuring that they are impact-driven and convey a compelling message.
  • Craft compelling, customized narratives and storylines that bring M²’s work to life and present a strong case for support, tailored to the interests, priorities, and perspective of each funder or prospect.
  • Compose correspondence, letters of inquiry, and other supporting documents tailored to specific funders and prospects.
  • Capture data, stories and information from program staff to create multi-faceted, accurate and detailed proposals, reports, and other donor-facing materials.
  • Work with the development and marketing staff to create and distribute communication materials for funders and prospects.
  • Research and prepare materials for donor meetings, in coordination with the Senior Director of Development.
  • Support 10-Year Anniversary fundraising efforts with written materials and other support as needed.

 

Grants and Data Management (25%)

  • Effectively use M²’s Salesforce system for donor relationship management, ensuring all relevant data about donor touchpoints, commitments, grant cycles, etc. is entered in an organized and streamlined manner.
  • Support ongoing stewardship efforts for M²’s diverse portfolio of funders.
  • Identify and research new and lapsed foundation and individual donors, and collaborate with the Senior Director of Development to build a robust pipeline of potential supporters.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a prerequisite, the candidate must believe in the values of M² and be driven by its mission, as well as have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in grant writing or similar roles.
  • Exceptional English writing and editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality proposals and reports (writing samples will be requested).
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Familiarity with the US-based Jewish nonprofit and philanthropic landscape is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; comfort with project management software like Monday.com; and experience with Salesforce or similar CRM system preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with integrity.
  • A positive attitude, team spirit, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
